Alex Lowry told to ‘find a club’ after Rangers transfer talks
Andy Walker has told Alex Lowry the time is right for him to “find a club” where he can play every week away from Rangers.
The Light Blues are understood to have held talks with the 21-year-old to suggest his game time will be limited under Philippe Clement and it may be best if he departs Ibrox before the transfer window shuts [Football Scotland, 6 August].
Although a move away from Glasgow doesn’t appear to be imminent at this stage, Go Radio pundit Walker believes the time is right for the young midfielder to start playing week in and week out.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (8 August, 48:25) he said: “I remember seeing him at Fir Park last season when he was at Hearts, I thought he played really well.
“I think this is the best decision for him. Go and find a club where you’ll play every week and develop your game.
“He’s only 21, but it’s time to play every week.”
Will Alex Lowry exit Rangers amid Ibrox transfer rumours?
While Lowry has always been held in high regard during his time at Ibrox, it has been clear throughout pre-season that the 21-year-old is unlikely to play a major role under Clement this season.
The Rangers boss has tended to use the B Team as a side for players not currently in the first-team picture, whether that be Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell in recent weeks or Ryan Jack towards the back end of last term.
While Lowry’s situation is slightly different because of his age, he has already been told that his opportunities will be limited and therefore it will be best for everyone if he manages to complete a move away this summer.

Although his wage won’t be huge, his exit will put another dent in the wage bill and the Light Blues will likely pocket a small, but reasonable transfer fee for his signature.
This feels like one of those rare situations in football where a transfer is the perfect fit for all parties involved.
