Rangers v Motherwell state of play as new Hampden Park pitch footage emerges

New footage has emerged of the Hampden Park pitch ahead of Rangers’ first ‘home’ game of the Scottish Premiership season against Motherwell.

Thanks to footage shot by Drone Audits Scotland on 6 August, as shared on YouTube, it seems as if Hampden is more than ready for the Gers’ second Scottish Premiership game.

There wasn’t a single dead patch to be spotted and talks of the surface not being ready can now be quashed with Rangers’ main goal to triumph over their opponents on Saturday (10 August).

Rangers need to buck their ideas up to have a genuine chance at the title

Philippe Clement’s team have already undergone a plethora of changes throughout the summer transfer window.

This was likely in hopes that some new faces among the Gers’ camp would allow the club to put up more of a fight for this season’s Scottish Premiership title.

However, if their opening game of the season against Hearts is anything to go by, Clement’s men could be in for a rocky ride.

Indeed, their performance improved during their most recent clash against Dynamo Kyiv but, in reality, they still didn’t look like a team capable of challenging Celtic for the title.

The fact that they won’t be able to play at home until much later in the season also doesn’t bode well for the club as the Ibrox atmosphere is something that’s fairly difficult to replicate.

Although changes could still be made to the squad before 30 August, at the time of writing nothing seems to be imminent despite the likes of Todd Cantwell [Record Sport’s Hotline] being available for a transfer.

For now, let’s just hope the Gers can improve on the goalless draw against Hearts last weekend when they embark on this temporary new chapter at Hampden.
