Four Lads could not believe it after Ianis Hagi was included in the Rangers B team side to face Middlesbrough on Monday (5 August).

The 25-year-old's future with the Scottish giants has been uncertain since returning from a season-long loan at Deportivo Alaves, where he made just eight La Liga starts.

Many fans are expecting Hagi's career at Ibrox to come to a "rather sorry end" [Scottish Sun, 4 August] after posting a cryptic message on Instagram, and he has now been demoted to the B team.

Is Ianis Hagi's time at Rangers over?

It does seem that Hagi's four-year permanent spell with the Gers is coming to an end in the most saddening of ways.

He was once a much-loved figure at Ibrox, even sharing videos of one of his best moments in a Light Blue shirt via X while away on loan, but his career in Scotland looks set to end on a sour note.

The 25-year-old was not included in Philippe Clement's side against Hearts in the opening match of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday 3 August, now being relegated to the B team.

While it can be argued that Hagi needs more minutes under his belt before being reintegrated back into the first-team squad, it almost seems impossible that he will make a recovery at Ibrox now.

The Romanian enjoyed a decent summer away with the Romanian national team at Euro 2024, where they reached the Round of 16, but he has likely made his final contributions as a Rangers player already.

With 99 total appearances for the Gers since his initial loan spell in 2020, he has certainly had a mixed few years at Ibrox but this ending is how he will be remembered by the fans, sadly.
