Rangers told Lennon Miller transfer terms amid Motherwell exit speculation
Andy Halliday has responded to speculation linking Lennon Miller with Rangers and told the Gers they have “no chance” of signing the 17-year-old for £2million.
The Light Blues are reportedly interested in signing the Motherwell teenager and have sent scouts to watch him over the course of pre-season ahead of a potential transfer push [Football Scotland, 10 July].
Speculation emerged on social media suggesting Halliday had said the Gers had arranged a deal to sign Miller this summer [Philbaw, 29 July], but the Motherwell man has now hit back at those claims publically.
Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (31 August) he said: “Apparently on Twitter, I’ve told some guy who’s my mate that Lennon Miller is going to sign for Rangers.
“I’m calling out that guy now, you’re full of it. I’m not being funny you know it’s a load when they say it’s only £2million for Lennon.
“£2million’s not getting you Lennon Miller, I’ll tell you that now, no chance.”
Will Lennon Miller exit Motherwell amid Rangers transfer speculation?
Rangers may well be in the race for Miller’s signature this summer, but there is absolutely nothing to suggest a deal has already been arranged between the two parties for the midfielder to arrive at Ibrox this summer.
The Light Blues quite clearly don’t have loads of money to spend on new arrivals ahead of the new season and are instead having to rely on player sales before they can confirm new signings.
While that is the case, Philippe Clement’s side are going to struggle to be able to match Motherwell’s asking price for Miller, especially now that Halliday has admitted the midfielder will cost a fair bit more than £2million.
Hopefully, between now and the end of the summer transfer window, some more signings will be made to bolster Clement’s ranks. But the Gers may have to wait another 12 months or so before making their push for Miller.
