Rangers camp unhappy after Oscar Cortes clash with Cyriel Dessers vs Manchester United
Rangers players have shown signs of not respecting each other during a difficult preseason run that ended without any victories, says Derek Ferguson.
The former Gers midfielder highlighted in instance in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on 20 July where newly re-signed winger Oscar Cortes and striker Cyriel Dessers were busy complaining at each other in the centre circle as the Old Trafford side hit them on the break to score through ex-Ibrox loanee Amad Diallo.
Ferguson fears the signs he has seen during the recent friendlies are a “massive worry” ahead of the start of the Scottish Premiership campaign at Hearts on Saturday 3 August.
And with senior players being moved on it highlights the need for Philippe Clement to secure new experienced signings to add more leadership.
He exclusively told Ibrox News: “[Cortes is] just coming back from injury to be brutally honest and that game against Man United, him and Dessers getting into a wee moaning match with each other.
“The two of them chuck it, Man United break and score a goal.
“What he showed when he initially came was there was a bit of quality there.
“But just with his body language on the park they don’t look a happy camp.
“We’re not privy to what goes on behind the scenes. It looks as though there’s a group of players who don’t maybe have the respect of one another.
“Which is a massive worry. And that’s when you need the leaders to get in the building.”
Rangers need new leaders in after Connor Goldson sold

Connor Goldson has completed a move to Aris Limassol and captain James Tavernier has been heavily-linked with a departure to Trabzonspor after multiple bids were received [Rangers Review, 23 July].
With transfer business delayed the squad looks half finished and the atmosphere around the team has not been great, which appears to have filtered through to the players.
Clement has brought in Vaclav Cerny on loan to try to add some more experience but needs a whole host more if he is to be able to strengthen and replace outgoing leadership roles.
In other Ranger news, the club have been predicted to bank a massive transfer windfall if they sell one “quality” Ibrox ace.
