Celtic transfer twist emerges in Rangers quest to sign Hannibal Mejbri

Celtic appear to be frontrunners in the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri ahead of Rangers.

Mosaique FM reported on 31 July that Gers’ arch rivals are now prepared to table an offer to sign the Tunisia international.

TEAMtalk reported on 30 July that the Ibrox outfit are in talks with United over a deal to bring the 21-year-old to Glasgow.

However, the fact that they’re not willing to put their money where their mouth is may see them losing out to an important target to Celtic.

Rangers cannot afford to let Hannibal Mejbri join Celtic

Philippe Clement’s side cannot afford to let Mejbri join Celtic as it would not only strengthen their arch rivals but also leave them without a crucial midfield reinforcement.

Mejbri, known for his physical presence, could be a game-changer in the Scottish Premiership, especially in high-stakes matches like the Old Firm derby.

Losing him to Celtic would mean missing out on a player who could significantly improve Rangers’ squad depth and competitiveness.

Moreover, the Ibrox outfit must prepare a bid for the Tunisia international to demonstrate their ambition and commitment to challenging Celtic for the title.

A strong offer would signal their intent to compete at the highest level and attract other quality players.

It would also prevent Celtic from gaining a significant advantage in the transfer market.

Gers need to act swiftly and decisively to secure the 21-year-old’s signature and ensure they remain a force to be reckoned with in Scottish football.

In other Rangers news, Chris Jack has issued a £12.6m transfer claim as Gers are linked with a big-money move to sign a new attacker.
