Rangers attacker Sam Lammers one step closer to exit amid new transfer twist

Rangers attacker Sam Lammers is now one step closer to sealing his Ibrox exit to join FC Twente, according to Andrea Losapio.

The Tutto Mercato Web journalist claimed on 24 July that his impressive performances at FC Utrecht on loan last season caught the one-time Eredivisie winners’ attention.

The 27-year-old was not high up Philippe Clement’s pecking order at Ibrox and is now expected to leave the club.

Via X, Losapio wrote: “Former Atalanta and Sampdoria Sam #Lammers will return to Eredivisie after a successful spell at FC Utrecht. He’s one step away from joining FC Twente from Rangers.”

Rangers finally find club for Sam Lammers

Gers are likely to be relieved that they have finally found a suitable club for Lammers.

The Dutch attacker has been a significant financial burden for the club, with his high salary and underwhelming performances making it difficult to offload him.

However, Twente’s interest in Lammers presents a solution to Gers’ problem.

The Dutch club’s willingness to sign Lammers suggests that they are prepared to meet his financial expectations, which would allow the Ibrox outfit to get a player off their books who was not part of Clement’s plans.

This move would also free up funds for the club to reinvest in other areas of the squad, potentially strengthening the team for the upcoming season.

The fact that the Glasgow side have managed to find a club willing to take on Lammers is a significant achievement, given the difficulties they faced in trying to sell him.
