Rangers could earn more money at Hampden Park after Ibrox developments

Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers could earn more money at Hampden Park should they sell out as the Ibrox saga continues to boil over.

A deal with the SFA is on the verge of completion for the national stadium, with Ibrox delays set to go throughout August and potentially longer [Scottish Sun].

With Hampden slightly higher in capacity than Ibrox, the football finance expert admitted that they could sell that out and earn more money, but compensation may still be needed to play there.

“I’ve never seen anything to suggest otherwise,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“Using Spurs as an example, their revenue was quite high at Wembley because they had the ability to sell more tickets and bring it up to capacity.

I believe, if I’ve got my numbers right, Hampden Park is around one thousand more than Ibrox, so it’s not huge in the context of the Spurs example as a comparison, but up to 1500 more tickets if you can sell a percentage of those, it’s an extra little bit.

That’s good for the club in one respect, but the offset is you’ve probably got to pay a compensation fee to get in there anyway and also, it’s not your ground so there’s the fan inconvenience as well.

I guess there are pros and cons in that regard, but there is nothing that I’ve seen that would suggest you can’t sell the stadium out if it’s higher capacity.”

Rangers to earn more at Hampden Park than Ibrox?

Depending on how much the club may need to pay the SFA to use Hampden, John Bennett could still find a way for this saga to make some money.

Bennett’s latest statement regarding the situation shows that he is still clueless as to how long this could last though, and that is good news for nobody.
