Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported on 14 July that the Blades have also entered the race for the 32-year-old Scotland midfielder.

Gers must avoid spending big money on McLean as at 32 years old, his age raises concerns about the longevity of his impact at Ibrox.

The Ibrox outfit have to be prudent with their spending, especially considering the need to strengthen other areas of the squad.
Splashing a large amount on the Scotsman could limit their ability to address other crucial positions.
Instead, they should focus on more cost-effective alternatives that can provide a similar level of quality and experience.
This could involve scouting younger talents with high potential or exploring the loan market for experienced players.
If a loan deal for McLean is available, then by all means, it should be considered.
