Hamza Igamane announcement update emerges as Rangers close in on new transfer
Rangers are expected to announce the signing of Hamza Igamane before the “close of play” on Friday 5 July, according to The Fourth Official.
The outlet reported on its YouTube channel on Wednesday (3 July) that the Moroccan forward is expected to arrive in Glasgow before the end of the week after visa issues blocking the transfer were rectified.
Reports have suggested Igamane is already en route to Scotland [Rangers Review, 3 July] where he is expected to put pen to paper on an initial four-year deal with the option of a year-long extension [The Fourth Official, 2 July].
Speaking on YouTube, The Fourth Official said: “It was reported yesterday that the visa issues holding up the deal have been rectified and it is just a case of finalising the deal and Igamane is due in Glasgow at the end of the week.
“We’re expecting that deal to be confirmed from Rangers before the close of play on Friday.”
When will Rangers announce Hamza Igamane in the summer transfer window?
Rangers needed to recruit at the top end of the pitch this summer and while some supporters would have rather seen the likes of Lawrence Shankland or Bojan Miovski make the move to Ibrox, Igamane is a promising talent.
The Moroccan forward may not yet be proven outside of his homeland, but he is incredibly highly rated and with a little bit of luck, he could be able to provide the goals to fire Philippe Clement’s side to the Premiership title.
Ultimately, the difference between Celtic and Rangers in the second half of last season was the goals of Adam Idah. The Norwich loanee managed to consistently find the net for the Hoops while the Gers remained reliant on Cyriel Dessers.
The Light Blues cannot head into another campaign relying on the Nigerian to score week in and week out. While he showed signs of improvement under Clement, he does not have the clinical edge top strikers require.
Hopefully, Igamane can be that man next season once his arrival is announced.
