Ianis Hagi now one step closer to Rangers exit amid recent development in Germany

Ianis Hagi’s exit from the Euro 2024 with Romania losing to the Netherlands on 2 July could fast-track his Rangers departure.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Ibrox four years ago, already appears to have played his final game for the club.

Last season, the winger spent on loan at Alaves and after a disappointing campaign, Philippe Clement is unlikely to want him back at the club.

By his own admission, the Romanian himself does not fancy staying at Ibrox for the upcoming campaign.

He said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun on 6 June: “My focus is on the Euros. I had talks with my agents and the pressure is on them.

“They know what I want for my future, it’s a pretty important summer for me from all points of view.

“I told them before going to the national team what I wanted.

“I expect them to work as well as possible, to find the right team and the right manager for me.

“I can’t say if I’ll be at Rangers or somewhere else. My future depends on my agents.”

Ianis Hagi’s agents can begin working on his Rangers exit

Despite Hagi’s desire for a new challenge, his recent performances at Euro 2024 may have increased his value in the transfer market.

The Romanian winger’s contributions to his national team, including his role in their group stage success, could attract interest from clubs across Europe.

While Gers may be open to letting him go, they will likely seek a fair transfer fee for the 25-year-old, given his potential and the remaining two years on his contract.

Hagi’s agents will need to work diligently to find a club that not only meets his personal aspirations but also offers a suitable financial package for Gers.

As the transfer window progresses, the next steps for Hagi will become clearer, and his future at Ibrox or elsewhere will depend on the outcome of these negotiations.

It’s fair to say that Clement is unlikely to want a player on his way out to be a part of his pre-season plans.
