Agent issues Rangers transfer admission on Fabio Silva loan signing

Carlos Oliveira, the agent of Fabio Silva, revealed that a host of Italian clubs were keen on signing his client ahead of Rangers.

Philippe Clement’s side secured the services of the 21-year-old from Wolves on loan in the January transfer window.

However, the Portuguese forward struggled to make an impact in his stint at the Scottish club.

Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, Oliveira said: “The second part of the season, however, was positive. Although he didn’t play in his role, Fabio made himself available to the coach and the team, scoring goals and making assists.

“It was a learning experience, he learned about the game better and I’m sure it will be useful to him in the future.”

“Yes, there was a lot of interest at the beginning of the season and then also in January. The Italian market is a bit particular, many clubs conclude their final transfer deals in the last few days.”

Fabio Silva struggled on loan at Rangers and it was a pretty poor call to sign him

Silva’s loan move was disappointing due to his lack of impact on the team’s performance.

Despite the initial excitement surrounding his arrival, the Portuguese striker failed to live up to expectations, scoring only four goals in 13 appearances.

His inability to adapt to the Scottish Premiership and make a significant contribution to Gers’ campaign was a letdown for both the club and its fans.

Given his underwhelming performance, there is little reason for the club to consider signing Silva permanently this summer.

The club needs a more reliable and consistent striker who can deliver goals and help them compete at the highest level, making a move for Lawrence Shankland sensible or perhaps even Albion Rrahmani.

Silva’s loan spell at Ibrox has shown that he is not the answer to their attacking needs and investing in him would be a risky move that could hinder the team’s progress.

In other Rangers news, a first-team player is close to agreeing on personal terms with another Ibrox exit on the cards this summer.
