Robby McCrorie would need significant paycut to leave Rangers in Scotland transfer update

Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie will face a “significant” pay cut if he forces a move to one of four interested Scottish Premiership clubs this summer, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review writer posted an article on X saying that the Light Blues had offered McCrorie a new deal, but he is attracting attention from Aberdeen, Hibernian, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, and beyond this summer.

McCrorie’s desire for regular first-team football has seen him edge closer to the exit door at Ibrox, even handing in a transfer request last January [Daily Record].

Jack has stated that the keeper would face a downturn in wages if he does leave Rangers to stay in Scotland, but the stopper is less concerned with finance than with football.

Rangers must ready replacement for Robby McCrorie

It does seem that McCrorie’s time with the Gers will be coming to an end this summer, and the Scottish youth international clearly has no shortage of suitors.

Aberdeen – where McCrorie’s twin brother Ross made a name for himself after leaving Rangers – had seemed the most likely destination according to previous reports, but the emergence of three other clubs gives the 26-year-old his pick of the bunch [Daily Record].

Moving to Motherwell, in particular, could please all parties – with Rangers said to be on the verge of signing Fir Park stopper Liam Kelly on a free transfer [Sky Sports].

A straight swap of second-choice goalkeepers, and collecting a fee on their end for McCrorie’s transfer, would surely be the best outcome for Rangers.

However, given the quartet of sides displaying interest, the choice will be his to decide where he wants to play regular minutes, leaving the Bears playing catch-up to bring in an adequate replacement.
