Robby McCrorie loan update after new Rangers contract offer – Chris Jack

Robby McCrorie was offered the potential of a loan transfer next season in a new deal at Rangers, according to Chris Jack.

The journalist reported via Rangers Review [4 June] that the Gers were considering the idea of loaning McCrorie out as part of the new deal, which the player has rejected at Ibrox.

The 26-year-old is set to enter the final 12 months of his current contract, turning down a contract with “enhanced terms”, and is hoping to save both his club and national career.

The ‘keeper is, undoubtedly, a talented player and Philippe Clement is keen to keep him at Ibrox for a reason, especially if Jack Butland is to leave this summer.

The former Crystal Palace man has been linked with a move back to the Premier League, which would leave the first-choice goalkeeper spot open, but it seems that might be too late for McCrorie.

With just seven senior appearances since 2021, it is understandable as to why the 26-year-old has become frustrated with a stagnant career and is seeking valuable minutes elsewhere.

Considering the number of games the Gers will be playing in all competitions next season, Clement will need to invest intelligently after the signing of Jefte from Fluminense and the loan extension for Leon Balogun.

Ibrox is preparing for a summer of change, with the new manager hoping to take advantage of his first summer transfer window in charge. With the likes of Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Borna Barisic already leaving, the rebuild is well underway.

Clement would have been hoping to tie McCrorie down to a new deal, but with the goalkeeper heading into the final 12 months of his contract, that will be another area of the pitch to target this summer.

In other Rangers news, Lawrence Shankland could be on his way to Ibrox this summer after developments at Hearts.
