Rangers could ‘cash in’ on Ridvan Yilmaz as new summer arrival mooted at Ibrox
Chris Jack has told Rangers supporters that Ridvan Yilmaz’s situation at Ibrox is “one to keep an eye on” during the summer transfer window.
The Turkish left-back enjoyed an impressive season under Philippe Clement in Glasgow but struggled with injury issues in the final weeks of the campaign having been linked with a move away in January.
Although Yilmaz himself is believed to be happy to remain at Ibrox this summer, Rangers Review journalist Jack admits that he “wouldn’t be surprised” to see the Gers cash in on the defender when the window opens.
Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (3 June, 21:25) he said: “I think it’s clear that Rangers do need reinforcements across the entire squad, certainly at the back.
“The Ridvan situation is definitely one to keep an eye on because Jefte has come into that left back area in effect as a straight swap for Borna Barsic. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ridvan moves on if Rangers see him as someone they can cash in on and use that fee and those wages in another way.
“I think there will be another left back coming in. We just spoke about it there, there definitely will be centre-back reinforcements coming in.”
Will Rangers sell Ridvan Yilmaz during the summer transfer window?
Clement has made no secret of his desire to overhaul the playing squad at Ibrox this summer and while few would have expected that to include Yilmaz, he is one of the few sellable assets in the Belgian’s squad.
Alongside Jack Butland, Sam Lammers and James Tavernier, the Turkish international could be sold for a tidy sum if the Gers were willing to let him depart when the window opens, especially after his impressive season.

The addition of Jefte could be viewed as a ready-made replacement for the left-back and with Jack insisting the Light Blues could make another addition on that side of the defence, Yilmaz could quickly become surplus to requirements.
If the right offer arrives at Ibrox this summer, maybe Clement and the recruitment team will be willing to let him depart but it remains to be seen if anyone is even interested in taking Yilmaz off of the Gers’ hands.
