Rangers agree £4m fee for brand new Ibrox transfer after Oscar Cortes news
Rangers will pay a future fee in the region of £4million for Oscar Cortes after agreeing on a new loan with an obligation to buy next summer, according to the Daily Record.
The Scottish newspaper reported in their print edition (4 June, page 45) that the Gers have agreed on a deal with Cortes’ parent club Lens for him to play another campaign on loan at Ibrox before the transfer becomes permanent.
The 20-year-old Colombian international saw out the second half of the season at Ibrox, scoring once in just six Premiership appearances, but those cameos were enough for Philippe Clement to sanction another year-long loan.
Oscar Cortes could be transfer bargain for Rangers
Rangers bringing in Cortes on another season-long loan deal gives Clement and his side some familiarity amidst what is set to be a new-look squad, with a host of deserved exits already confirmed.
Injuries restricted Cortes from making any first-team appearances from February onwards, but despite being unable to have an impact in the run-in, Clement’s keenness to bring the Colombian back into the fold suggests he could be a key figure next season.

It remains to be seen if fellow loaned wide players like Abdallah Sima will return to the club, with Sam Lammers and Ianis Hagi less than likely to be fixtures in the side next season.
With Kemar Roofe also leaving on a free transfer and Ross McCausland linked back in May to follow him out of the door, Rangers’ wide stocks suddenly seem ripe for Cortes to claim his stake as a starter for Clement.
Cortes may not officially be an under-contract Rangers player until the summer of 2025, but if he makes the impact Clement will hope he can, the 20-year-old could be holding the Premiership title aloft by the time it comes around to finalising that £4million transfer.
In other Rangers news, Lawrence Shankland could be on his way to Ibrox this summer after developments at Hearts.
