Mark Guidi shares new Jack Butland transfer admission live on air amid Rangers exit links
Mark Guidi has told Rangers that Jack Butland is the only player in their squad worth upwards of £5million ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Englishman has had an excellent first season at Ibrox, but his good performances are expected to have caught the eye of Premier League sides with fans and pundits alike expecting him to move away this summer.
Although the likes of Ridvan Yilmaz and James Tavernier have also been tipped to leave this summer, the Sunday Mail’s chief football writer Guidi believes the English stopper is the only real sellable asset in Philippe Clement’s squad.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (3 June, 36:50) he said: “To be honest, I think Jack Butland off of the top of my head is the only one that you’d get more than £5million for.
“Down the road, they will pay £15million for a reserve goalie so that will come down to Jack Butland, does he want to go back? Of the 20 clubs in the Premier League, is there a number one vacancy? I don’t think there is.
“Or is he willing to go and battle it out with somebody?”

The Light Blues are expected to undergo a major rebuild this summer under the management of Clement and for that to happen, the Gers are going to have to raise some funds through player sales sooner rather than later.
That will not be easy to do when so few of the stars in Clement’s side are worth any sort of money. If the Belgian seriously wants to make wholesale changes this summer, he is going to have let some talented players depart.
As Guidi suggests, Butland is easily the most valuable of the current crop at Ibrox, but he will be expensive to replace and therefore the Gers will be reluctant to lose him after a solitary season in Glasgow.
But should a Premier League side come knocking with a big-money offer and improved wages for the Englishman, Rangers won’t be in a position to turn it away. Ultimately, speculation around Butland’s future won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
