Journalist issues update as Rangers linked with Damian Garcia transfer

Mark Hendry has reacted as Rangers are linked with a move for Penarol midfielder Damian Garcia amid his recent contractual scrap.

The Daily Record claimed on 3 June that the 20-year-old has refused to sign a new deal at the club and that has seen the manager Diego Aguirre questioning his desire.

Gers are understood to be keen on securing the services of the Uruguayan in the summer transfer window.

Hendry, the deputy editor of Football Scotland wrote on 3 June: “Damian Garcia is in the midst of a row with his current club Penarol after failing to sign a new deal and that has sent the rumour mill into overdrive about Gers. Watch that one.”

Rangers must capitalise on Damian Garcia’s uncertainty

Gers could capitalise on Garcia’s contract dispute with Penarol by offering him a more lucrative contract and a platform to showcase his talent in a competitive European league.

This move could appeal to the midfielder, who appears to have refused to sign a new deal with Penarol due to wage disputes and a lack of appreciation from the club’s management.

Rangers should seize this opportunity as he is a promising young talent who has already established himself in Penarol’s first team and has represented Uruguay at the Under-20s level.

His potential and current form makes him a valuable asset for Gers, who are looking to strengthen their squad for domestic and European competitions.

The Ibrox outfit could offer him a fresh start, a competitive salary and a chance to develop further under the guidance of their experienced coaching staff.

His acquisition would also fit into the club’s transfer strategy of targeting young, talented players with high potential and it remains to be seen if they manage to secure this deal.

In other Rangers news, weeks of negotiations are now on the cards at Ibrox with Gers aiming to strike a multi-million transfer deal to sign an international attacker.
