Arsenal due compensation if Rangers sign Reuell Walters ahead of European clubs
Rangers will have to pay compensation to Arsenal if they are able to secure a deal to sign Reuell Walters, according to The Scotsman.
Writing on their website (3 June), the news outlet report that the 19-year-old defender has rejected a new contract at The Emirates Stadium and is a target for Philippe Clement.
European clubs from France and Germany are also showing an interest in signing him, but anyone that convinces him to join will be forced to pay a compensation fee to the Gunners as they are owed a training fee.
Rangers could complete shrewd business with Reuell Walters deal
Clement is making sure the Rangers squad gets a complete rebuild in the summer, already completing deals for Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Mohammed Diomande.
But defence is seen as a position that needs bolstering with question marks over Connor Goldson and James Tavernier, while Ben Davies is “likely” to leave and a deal for Jose Cordoba fell through.
While the club would surely prefer to have first-team ready players come in and help them to close the gap on Celtic, Walters is a top young talent and could be ready to make the step up.

Signing him on a free transfer with low wages and just a small compensation fee could be really smart business considering how highly rated he is, and it could be another Calvin Bassey situation for the club.
Develop him, let him help the team and in a few years he could be a major sale to help the finances of the club before the cycle starts again. It’s exactly what they should be doing in the market, but they’ll have to move quickly to get a deal done.
