Rangers defender James Tavernier transfer mooted on one condition
Kenny Miller believes that Rangers will sell James Tavernier this summer if and only if they receive a big bid for his services.
The Gers captain has been criticised over the past few years, particularly due to his defensive frailties.
However, Miller does not want to see Philippe Clement’s rebuild taking shape without the Englishman, who’s been one of the most decorated players in the club’s recent history.
He told the Daily Record on 2 June: “After Butland, the next guy I’d want to keep would be the captain, James Tavernier.
“Everyone knows I’m a huge fan and, despite some of the criticism he has received, you can’t argue with what he gives the team going forward in terms of goals and assists.
“He has two years left on his contract and unless a big bid comes in, I’d expect him to lead Clement’s side again.”
James Tavernier must stay at Rangers until his deal runs out
Tavernier has been a pivotal player for Gers, contributing significantly to the team’s success over the years.
Despite facing criticism, his attacking prowess is undeniable, with a track record of scoring and assisting goals that few other right-backs can match.
His experience and leadership on the pitch are invaluable, particularly in high-pressure games.
Given his contract situation, it would take a substantial bid to convince Rangers to part with their captain.
Even if they were to bring in a new right-back, Tavernier’s experience could be a valuable asset in helping the newcomer adjust to the team and the league.

His presence could also provide healthy competition and a mentor-mentee relationship, benefiting both the new player and the team as a whole.
