Philippe Clement to face ‘huge problem’ in Rangers transfer market
Kenny Miller believes that Philippe Clement may struggle in the summer transfer window if he looks to sell too many players from his Rangers squad.
After losing out on the Scottish Cup and Premiership title to Celtic, the Belgian has a lot to do this summer to turn things around.
This has already started with the likes of John Lundstram, Borna Barisic and Ryan Jack all departing when their contracts end this month.
Writing for the Daily Record (2 June), Miller has suggested some sales are necessary but need to be done within reason if the Gers want to challenge.
He said: “Rangers need to find clubs who are interested in those surplus to requirements. If not? Clement might be stuck with them – which could be a huge problem.
“He can’t get rid of an entire playing squad in just one summer. But he’ll know by now the players he can trust and build a new team around.”
Rangers summer departures have begun
The Gers announced their retained list on Saturday (1 June) that several first-team stars would be departing Ibrox at the end of their contracts.
Kemar Roofe and Jon McLaughlin have joined Lundstram, Barisic and Jack in leaving Rangers this summer leaving plenty of gaps in the squad.
Add to this Fabio Silva, Abdallah Sima and Oscar Cortes returning to their parent clubs after a loan spell in the Scottish Premiership.
Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, Clement is going to have to add plenty of talent to his squad to fill the void left.

His remit next season will be to defeat Celtic and look to challenge closer for the league title and go one better in the Scottish Cup.
With all the departures already secured, Clement will have to be careful that he has replacement options lined up before any more sales.
It is going to be a busy transfer window at Ibrox, there is no doubt about that.
