Cyriel Dessers to be unhappy at Rangers if Philippe Clement completes new Ibrox signing
Kenny Miller believes that Cyriel Dessers and Danilo will be unhappy if Philippe Clement signs Lawrence Shankland or another striker for Rangers this summer.
The Gers boss is considering his options in the transfer market as he looks to rebuild his squad ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season.
This could see him look to add Shankland to his squad as a striker option after an excellent goalscoring season with Hearts.
Miller has now told the Daily Record (2 June) that he believes Dessers and Danilo may look to leave if the Scotsman comes in during the transfer window.
He said: “Now, it’s absolutely vital that Clement signs a new No.9. He should probably have done it in January to boost the title bid.
“But if he does get a new striker in – whether that’s Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland or anyone else – I can’t see Dessers and Danilo being happy as back-ups. The manager would probably look to move one of them on.”
Rangers could lose Cyriel Dessers this summer
Should Shankland make the move to the Light Blues in the transfer window, there is little chance that he is coming in to be a backup.
Although he may not demand starts in every game, he won’t want to be a third-choice option behind Dessers and Danilo.
This could see one of the two leave Ibrox despite only joining last summer with the latter missing most of the season through injury.
The Nigerian scored 22 goals in all competitions in his debut season [FotMob] which certainly represents a positive return for the striker.

By comparison, Danilo could only score four in the Scottish Premiership but he was only available to start in five matches before injury [FotMob].
Given that the Brazilian hardly played last campaign, Rangers may look to cash in on Dessers and replace him with the incoming Shankland.
Either way, if the Hearts star comes in at Ibrox then one of the Rangers duo will have to depart.
