Rangers new CEO recruitment timescale shared as James Bisgrove completes Saudi exit

Rangers may not appoint a new chief executive at Ibrox for up to six months following James Bisgrove’s departure, according to Chris Jack.

The Light Blues announced on Thursday (30 May) that Bisgrove would be leaving his role in Glasgow to take up a position in Saudi Arabia, now reported to be with recently promoted Al Qadsiah [Scottish Daily Mail, 31 May].

Following his departure, John Bennett is set to take over the reins temporarily. Rangers Review journalist Jack has suggested it could be a while before a new appointment is made behind the scenes.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (31 May, 6:00) he said: “I don’t think timescale is something that people should get overly hung up or upset about.

“Even if Rangers went to the market first thing this morning, put a headhunter in place, went to a recruitment firm or started speaking to people that they know and perhaps have on a list, most people they will go for, unless they’re out of work, will have their own notice period.

“It could be three months, it could be six months so the chances of you losing James Bisgrove at five o’clock last night and having a new chief executive first thing this morning is not going to happen.

“Even if you did start that process first thing today, it won’t be a case of someone will be in to see Rangers through the transfer window.”

Who has replaced James Bisgrove ahead of the summer transfer window at Rangers?

On the face of it, this sort of upheaval behind the scenes at Ibrox couldn’t have come at a much worse time as the Light Blues begin to put plans in place for the summer transfer window under Philippe Clement.

But the Gers are seemingly confident they will be able to navigate the off-season with the team that they currently have in place in Glasgow. Whether that is true or not will likely be seen in the next couple of weeks.

Ultimately, Rangers’ focus currently has to be on the transfer window and recruitment. Once the market has closed and next season gets underway, then the Light Blues can look at adding to their ranks behind the scenes.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done before the start of next season if the Gers genuinely want to beat Celtic to the title but the appointment of a new CEO can be delayed for now.
