James Bisgrove quits Rangers in new Ibrox update

Rangers CEO James Bisgrove has quit his role at Ibrox ahead of the summer transfer window in Glasgow, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist reported via X on Thursday (30 May) that the Light Blues chief had decided to leave his post at Ibrox after five years, having played a major role in the running of the football club in the last few seasons.

Bisgrove played a major part in the appointment of Philippe Clement, but the Light Blues confirmed in an official statement on their website that he had left Glasgow having taken on a new footballing role in the Middle East.

Has James Bisgrove left Rangers and Ibrox ahead of the summer transfer window?

It is safe to say this news has come as a complete shock to everyone in around Rangers as there has been very little to suggest Bisgrove would be leaving his role, especially so soon after the end of the season.

While Nils Koppen and Clement are expected to run the majority of the recruitment during the summer transfer window, it cannot be good for the Light Blues to have this sort of upheaval at the top of the club at this stage of the campaign.

The Gers have suggested that they believe the executive team’s work will remain uninterrupted but it is a change that will impact the foundations of the club, even if it is one that most supporters won’t be too disappointed by.

Rangers supporters will be hoping that this is the first of many high-profile departures this summer as Clement looks to transform the Gers into title challengers once again. He promised there would be a clearout, maybe he didn’t only mean on the pitch.

This could be a summer of immense change on the blue half of Glasgow and it is only just getting started.
