David Edgar reacts to ‘Huge’ Rangers news out of Ibrox on Thursday

David Edgar has reacted after Rangers confirmed CEO James Bisgrove’s departure from Ibrox on Thursday (30 May).

The club confirmed that the CEO has ended his five-year stay with the Gers, having accepted a new football role in the Middle East after playing a vital role at Ibrox over the last few seasons.

Bisgrove played a major part in bringing Philippe Clement to the club in October, though the Belgian will now take control of the club’s summer activity with Nils Koppen, John Bennett and the board.

Taking to X on Thursday (30 May), David Edgar reacted to the news via his Heart and Hand podcast account, saying: “Huge change at Rangers.”

James Bisgrove quits role as Rangers CEO

To say that this is a “huge change” would be an understatement, to say the least. Bisgrove has been at the very centre of operations at Ibrox over the past five years.

With bringing Clement to the club set to be one of his final actions, it is not a terrible way to bow out, especially with the hype, determination and aims that the Belgian has brought with him.

However, it is certainly a major shock and is likely to have sent shockwaves around Ibrox, with few expecting the announcement, at least none of the fans.

A major rebuild has already been mooted for the Rangers squad, though no one thought this would include the club’s hierarchy, which will add more pressure this summer.

Having missed out on the Scottish Premiership title to Old Firm rivals Celtic, Clement will need to make several additions to be able to compete for some of the biggest prizes in Scotland.

They will now need to look for a new CEO who can give as much as Bisgrove did at Ibrox, which will not be an easy task.

In other Rangers news, a fresh claim has emerged on Gers’ quest to secure the services of an England-born winger who enjoyed a phenomenal 2023/24 season.
