Club manager breaks silence on Rangers chase for Thomas Galdames

Godoy Cruz manager Daniel Oldra has admitted that Thomas Galdames could leave the club amid links to Rangers this summer.

Philippe Clement has turned his attention to the Chilean after pulling out of a deal for Panama international Jose Cordoba, who had already toured Ibrox and looked certain for a transfer.

Galdames played for his current side on Wednesday (29 May), registering two assists, and after the game his manager was asked about a potential move away and admitted he could move.

“Galdames has made me angrier than my son, how can he not have me as a father?” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record (30 May).

“He has had a great year, I know I’m going to lose it. But football has those things. Let them leave with a love from Godoy Cruz, which means that they have been happy here.”

Rangers being decisive in the transfer window is a good sign

It’s been a long time since there has been confidence in the management and people behind the scenes, but the summer has started well.

Brazilian left-back Jefte has already joined and a deal is expected to be completed for goalkeeper Liam Kelly before the start of Euro 2024 too.

However, exits are expected to be confirmed in the coming days and Clement clearly doesn’t want to wait around for players just to miss out on a deal. He wants what he wants, and he wants it quickly.

That decisiveness has been missing for a while, as we saw with several deals last summer dragging on for prolonged periods of time.

Galmades is a talented player in the prime years of his career, and bringing him to Ibrox could be a shrewd bit of business for the Light Blues as they look to catch Celtic and ensure they maintain their spot as Scotland’s most successful ever club.

In other Rangers news, the club are in “very advanced” talks to sign this “magical” attacker.
