Sam Lammers in high demand as Rangers make permanent transfer decision on Ibrox forward
Rangers have decided to sell Sam Lammers this summer instead of prolonging his stay at Ibrox, according to Rangers Review.
The outlet reported via their website on 29 May that after the Dutch forward’s impressive loan at FC Utrecht across the second half of the season the club are now looking to move him on permanently just a year after his arrival from Atalanta.
The Eredivisie side are one of a host of sides looking to sign him, with “several” other Dutch clubs also in the hunt after the 27-year-old scored 11 times in 20 games across all competitions back in his homeland.
In addition there are said to be two other European clubs outside the Netherlands who are interested in a move for Lammers, who struggled badly during his half-campaign in Glasgow.
Positive conclusion to miserable Rangers signing on the cards
Lammers would probably be the first to admit that it didn’t work out for him at Rangers but he deserves credit for rebounding back in the Eredivisie.
Having been short of goals for a number of seasons for a series of clubs he belatedly delivered a scoring rate that was always likely to interest clubs.
A permanent exit that brings his Ibrox stay to a close and delivers him to a more favourable situation looks the best outcome for all parties, and the more clubs that are in the race for him the better chance the Gers have of making their money back.
Just two goals under Michael Beale and Philippe Clement combined earlier in the season made Lammers a symbol of the botched overhaul at Ibrox, but with another attempt on the cards this summer a fee for the forward is surely going to be more useful than him remaining at the club.

New arrivals up front are sure to be on the agenda during the transfer window even as Danilo returns from long-term injury, and assuming Cyriel Dessers remains at Ibrox.
Rangers could lose the significant goal contributions of Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima, but long-standing links to Hearts star Lawrence Shankland could finally come to a head, if the club has sufficient budget for a move on top of extensive business elsewhere in the squad.
In other Rangers news, a Jack Butland exit to the Premier League update has been issued.
