Rangers transfer news as twist emerges in Jose Cordoba pursuit

Rangers are closing in on signing Jose Cordoba from Levski Sofia despite his doubts over the move, according to Matteo Moretto.

The SOS Fanta journalist took to Twitter on 27 May to claim that Gers deliberated over the decision in the last 24-48 hours to close the deal with the Bulgarian club with him becoming the second signing after Jefte.

However, it’s understood that the 22-year-old Panama international will still be moving to Ibrox this summer, having bid farewell to his teammates.

Via Twitter, Moretto wrote: “José Córdoba is about to sign for Glasgow Rangers. The Scottish club has taken 24/48 hours to decide whether to close the operation with Levski Sofia due to the player’s doubts about playing for such a historically important club.”

Rangers seemingly give Jose Cordoba assurances before transfer deal

Cordoba’s imminent move to Ibrox from Levski Sofia is a testament to the persuasive efforts of the Scottish club, particularly the work of director of recruitment Nils Koppen.

Despite Cordoba’s initial doubts about joining such a historically significant club, Gers have managed to allay his concerns and convince him to sign.

This development suggests that the club likely provided Cordoba with certain assurances, perhaps related to his role in the team, his development opportunities, or the club’s ambitions for the future.

These assurances would have been crucial in persuading Cordoba to commit to the move, especially given the interest from other clubs like Norwich City.

The fact that the Ibroxit outfit have seemingly managed to secure Cordoba’s signature, despite his reservations, is a clear indication of their determination to strengthen their squad and their ability to negotiate effectively.

This is a significant achievement for Koppen and the rest of the management team, and it demonstrates their commitment to building a competitive team capable of challenging for titles.
