Jack Butland surely set for Rangers exit already as transfer update emerges at Ibrox
Jack Butland could already be set to leave Rangers after just one season in Scotland, with questions over his future continuing to be raised.
The in-form shot-stopper is expected to be the subject of multiple bids from English clubs this summer, while it has also been reported, as per DHNet, that the player wants to leave Ibrox.
Considering those rumours, Butland may have played his final match in a Rangers shirt as the club targets a move for their former goalkeeper, and Motherwell ace, Liam Kelly on a free transfer.
According to the Daily Record [27 May, page 40], the Ibrox club are on the verge of signing the 28-year-old, having left Rangers in June 2018 and going on to play for Livingston, QPR and Motherwell.
The Steelmen have certainly had a disappointing season, finishing in the relegation qualification spots, but Kelly has been a standout, prompting the Gers to take action.
This signing, however, could spell the end of Butland’s time in Scotland.
Jack Butland set for Rangers exit as Liam Kelly signing close
Having made over a century of appearances for Motherwell since arriving in July 2021, Kelly will be a super addition this summer but will have unbelievable boots to fill if he is to replace Butland.
The Englishman picked up two awards at the club’s Player of the Year awards, becoming an integral part of the Gers’ title charge under Philippe Clement as well as starring in the Europa League.
With previous experience in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, Stoke City and Manchester United, there is no doubt that, even at 31 years of age, he has the ability to play at the highest level still.
While this would not be an ideal exit for Rangers this summer, it seems increasingly likely that Butland will depart Scotland despite only being at the club for one season.

If this were to be the case, Kelly would not be a poor replacement, though there would be pressure for him to perform in between the sticks.
With the summer transfer window set to be a time of change for Clement, having begun the rebuild with the signing of Fluminense’s Jefte, only time will tell where the keeper is going to end up.
