Chris Sutton shares ‘massive advantage’ Celtic have on Rangers in transfer window
Chris Sutton believes that Celtic have an advantage over Rangers in the transfer market given that they haven’t got to qualify for the Champions League.
The Gers missed out on both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup to their Old Firm rivals this past season and will now look to strengthen.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will receive additional financial reward for their automatic qualification for the Champions League, whereas Rangers still have to qualify.
Speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast [27 May], Sutton believes this will give them a sizable advantage over Philippe Clement’s side this summer.
He said: “The issue they have is they can’t spend the Champions League money right now should they get in it, whereas Celtic have a massive advantage by going straight into the Champions League.”
Rangers summer transfer rebuild needed
It is no secret that the Gers are in desperate need of multiple incoming signings this summer to catch up with Celtic next season.
In four Old Firm fixtures across the 2023-24 campaign, Rangers failed to win a single game with a draw being the best result.
This needs to change next season if Clement has any hope of securing a Scottish Premiership title in his first full campaign.
With that being said, there is set to be a large turnover in players across the summer which the Belgian will have to deal with.

There is going to be a lack of funds to do that, which means the Light Blues need to be clever to pick up first-team quality players for next season.
Celtic are sure to have more finances to take advantage of this summer which will see their side improve just as much.
Next season, Rangers fans will be confident of a better season after a rather underwhelming campaign this time around.
