Rangers ace Todd Cantwell mocked by Celtic rival Alistair Johnston after Scottish Cup final defeat
Rangers ace Todd Cantwell was on the receiving end of a jibe from Alistair Johnston following the Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic on Saturday (25 May).
The Gers went down to a 1-0 defeat in a tense encounter against their fierce Old Firm rivals at Hampden Park to end their campaign on a disappointing note.
Following the game, Celtic left-back Grey Taylor posted a picture of the celebrations on Instagram, with team-mate Johnston replying: “Eating a [zipped mouth emoji] burger tonight wee man???”.
It was a reference to Cantwell posting his “shushburger please” comment after scoring in Rangers’ final game of the Scottish Premiership season against Hearts on his Instagram story, which was later deleted (Daily Record, 21 May).
Unnecessary jibe at Rangers man Todd Cantwell
This all feels a little unnecessary from Johnston in all honesty, even accounting for the huge rivalry.
Cantwell can be an extremely frustrating figure and Rangers supporters have not always been best pleased over his social-media activity and his decision to post after that Hearts game was particularly baffling.

Ultimately he left himself open to be mocked and it is an opportunity that has not been missed, even if it did feel like a shot that didn’t really need to be aimed his way.
There is a question mark as to whether Cantwell will be a part of Philippe Clement’s long-term plans at Ibrox. Right now you have to say that Cantwell needs to put the phone on and focus on his football, because his talking should be done on the pitch and not on Instagram.
Otherwise, well, he is always going to be a figure to be got at.
