Philippe Clement issues transfer update on Rangers defender Borna Barisic

Philippe Clement has confirmed that the Celtic cup final clash on 25 May was the last Rangers game for Borna Barisic.

Ahead of the game at Hampden, Clement revealed that the Croatia international would be leaving the club.

His contract at Ibrox runs out at the end of June, so this was the last game he played for Gers and will surely leave the club this summer, following Kemar Roofe out of the door whose exit has been confirmed.

Clement said: “It was tough to make the selection and also to make decisions for this game.

“For example, Ridvan had his first training with the group yesterday and he is in the starting XI because Borna is leaving the club and Robbie Fraser is still young to start an Old Firm like that.

“It was not the ideal preparations this week but I expect from the team to do everything they have in this game.”

Rangers make right decision to let Borna Barisic leave

Barisic’s departure from Ibrox marks a significant transition for the club, as it opens up opportunities for new talents to step into the spotlight.

Jefte’s recent signing and Ridvan Yilmaz’s status as the first-choice left-back indicate that the club has already prepared for life after Barisic.

By allowing the 31-year-old to leave, Gers can allocate the resources previously tied to his contract to other areas of the team, potentially strengthening the squad as a whole.

Moreover, this move allows younger players to gain more experience and develop their skills, ensuring a smooth transition and long-term success for the club.

The Croatian’s performances have been underwhelming for the past few seasons and the only shame is them not getting a transfer fee for him.

It remains to be seen how many more new signings the club do end up making as they have to back Clement this summer.

In other Rangers news, names of seven first-team players have emerged who are mooted to seal their permanent Ibrox exit this summer.
