Four Lads shocked at controversy from Rangers v Celtic in Scottish Cup
Four Lads took to Twitter to express their annoyance at a controversial incident from the Rangers v Celtic Scottish Cup final clash.
The Hoops ended up winning the game 1-0 at Hampden Park on Saturday, 25 May, but the scoreline would’ve been different had the goal for Gers, which was disallowed by VAR, stood.
Joe Hart was deemed to have been pushed during the set play which meant that the goal scored by Abdallah Sima was chalked off.
Via Twitter, Four Lads wrote: “Var check rules out the goal. Remains 0-0. Colour me shocked.”
Rangers yet again on the wrong side of a VAR call
This decision was met with frustration and disbelief from Gers fans and neutral observers alike, as it appeared to be a soft foul and the goal could have significantly altered the outcome of the match.
However, contentious decisions like this are not uncommon in football, especially with the introduction of VAR.
The system is designed to ensure fairness and accuracy in decision-making, but it has also led to controversial calls due to the subjective nature of interpreting the rules.
The decision to disallow the goal was based on the referee’s interpretation of the incident, which can vary from person to person.
In the end, such decisions can significantly impact the outcome of a match and are a part of the game’s unpredictability.
While they may cause frustration and debate, they also add to the drama and narrative of football.
Gers may be feeling hard done by as in the 90 minutes, they did not deserve to lose this game.
