Route cleared for Rangers as development emerges in Liam Kelly pursuit

The route has now cleared for Rangers to sign Motherwell goalkeeper Liam Kelly this summer, according to Rangers Review.

The news outlet reported on 24 May that the Gers can now go and sign the 28-year-old goalkeeper this summer.

This comes after Motherwell announced, on Friday afternoon, that the Scotland international will be parting ways with his contract expiring.

Rangers must capitalise on Kelly’s availability and bring him back to Ibrox

With Jefte close to joining, Gers could also soon seal the services of Kelly.

A reunion between the two parties would make sense as Kelly is a product of the Rangers youth system, having spent 12 years at the club.

This connection to the Ibrox outfit and its traditions could be a significant factor in his decision to return.

The 28-year-old has shown his quality as a goalkeeper during his time at Motherwell.

He has made over 150 appearances for the club and has been a consistent performer, earning the respect of his teammates and fans alike.

His experience and leadership qualities would be a valuable addition to the Gers squad.

His return to the club would also provide competition for the number one spot.

Jack Butland is currently the first-choice goalkeeper, but having Kelly as a backup would ensure that there is a high level of competition for places, which can only benefit the team.

This would see Butland being pushed to get even better and hopefully, it plays a role in helping Philippe Clement’s side win the league.

In other Rangers news, names of seven first-team players have emerged who are mooted to seal their permanent Ibrox exit this summer.
