Jose Cordoba given Ibrox tour as Rangers close in on multi-million transfer
Rangers have already given Jose Cordoba a tour of Ibrox as they close in on a multi-million-pound transfer, according to Chris Jack.
Writing on the Rangers Review website (24 May), the news journalist reports that the Panama international has already watched the club in action as they faced off against Kilmarnock earlier this month.
The centre-back is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days after rejecting interest from Norwich, with a deal expected to cost around £3million.
Rangers exploring untouched market to bolster squad
Celtic were able to get an edge over Rangers in recent years by targeting the Asian market and bringing in top players that nobody else was looking at.
Since Ange Postecoglou left though Brendan Rodgers has returned to the club’s previous ways, and now Philippe Clement has a chance to pick up where they left off by using his and Nils Koppen’s knowledge of the world.
Clement has already picked up Mohammed Diomande and Oscar Cortes from obscurity, while Jefte’s arrival was confirmed on Friday from Brazil.
Now Cordoba is being brought in from Bulgaria, but he is clearly very talented as an international defender at 22 years old with English clubs chasing his signature too.
This is the type of transfer that will go under the radar but could really bolster the squad, and getting it done so early in the window can only be a positive thing.
In other Rangers news, the club are eyeing a club-record deal to sign one SPFL star ahead of Celtic.
