Chris Sutton takes dig at Todd Cantwell as Celtic beat Rangers to Scottish Cup

Chris Sutton took to Twitter right after full-time to take a dig at Todd Cantwell as Rangers lost 1-0 to Celtic in the Scottish Cup.

Gers would’ve wanted to end the season on a winning note at Hampden Park on 25 May, but lost the contest courtesy of a late Adam Idah winner.

Cantwell, in mid-week, posted on his Instagram a picture of his fingers on his lips and captioned it “Shushburger please” which he deleted not too long after.

Via Twitter, Sutton wrote: “Well played Celtic and Adam Idah. I may celebrate with a Shushburger this evening.”

Rangers failed to take chances as Celtic secure another victory

Gers had multiple opportunities to secure a victory against Celtic in the Scottish Cup final but failed to capitalize on their chances.

Throughout the match, they displayed a solid performance and created a few decent goal-scoring opportunities, only to be denied by a late Idah goal that secured the win for the Hoops.

This outcome will undoubtedly leave Gers with a sense of regret, as they were so close to clinching the trophy.

Sutton’s criticism of Cantwell is justified, as the Englishman’s midweek social media post displayed a level of naivety and overconfidence that ultimately backfired.

The “Shushburger” reference serves as a reminder that actions and words can have consequences, particularly in high-stakes matches like the Scottish Cup final.

As a result, Cantwell’s performance and behaviour will be under scrutiny, and he will need to learn from this experience to avoid similar situations in the future.
