Simon Jordan blasted as ‘ridiculous’ after disrespectful Rangers swipe in newspaper
Calum Crowe has hit back at Simon Jordan’s criticism of Scottish football ahead of the cup final between Rangers and Celtic on Saturday (25 May).
The Gers will lock horns with their Glasgow Rivals in the Scottish Cup final while Manchester City and Manchester United square off in the FA Cup final.
Ahead of both games, Jordan has criticised the quality of football up north.
As per the Scottish Daily Mail (page 77, 24 May), the ex-Crystal Palace owner slammed football in Scotland, labelling it as boring while suggesting that Celtic and Rangers “would struggle to survive in the English Championship.”
Crowe has hit back at Jordan’s comments, writing, “Jordan’s assertion that Scottish football is somehow boring compared to the game down south is frankly ridiculous. “
Simon Jordan is out of order with comments regarding Rangers and Celtic
Jordan is often very vocal with his opinions.
While he is entitled to his view on whether he enjoys Scottish football, that is not the issue with his comments.
Crowe even goes on to suggest in his column that the quality of football in Scotland is nowhere near the level of quality in England.
Few people are arguing against those claims, but Jordan’s suggestion that Rangers or Celtic would be relegated from the Premier League is far-fetched and unnecessary.
There is nothing to suggest that either side would be dumped out of the Premier League, and in all honesty, it is hard to imagine that either team would be.
Both clubs have quality players on their books, recognised internationals with experience in European football.

Just because they aren’t competing with the likes of Arsenal or City every week, that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be able to compete with Burnley, Sheffield United or Luton Town.
