Rangers announce Jefte signing as two permanent summer transfers already lined up at Ibrox
Rangers have announced the permanent signing of both Jefte and Mohamed Diomande in a new summer transfer update.
The Light Blues confirmed in an official statement on Friday (24 May) that they had signed the Brazilian left-back on a four-year deal from Fluminese, subject to an international work permit and international clearance.
On top of the announcement of the new left-back, the Gers confirmed that Diomande would become a permanent addition to Philippe Clement’s squad this summer, having initially joined the ranks at Ibrox on loan in January.
Writing on their website, Rangers said: “Another exciting talent, Jefte will join Mohamed Diomande as a permanent addition to Philippe Clement’s squad already secured ahead of the 2024/25 season.”
Will Rangers sign Jefte and Mohamed Diomande in the summer transfer window at Ibrox?
The season isn’t even over yet and the transfer window hasn’t even begun, but the Light Blues have already started work to try and get ahead of the pack ahead of the start of next season.
Full-back was quite clearly an area which needed strengthening during the summer window, with Borna Barisic set to depart and Ridvan Yilmaz struggling with injury, a new left-back was a necessity for Clement.
While Jefte will arrive with plenty of excitement around him, the permanent acquisition of Diomande could be just as important as he has shown during his six-month stint at Ibrox that he is more than capable of impressing in Glasgow.
Some have already suggested that the midfielder won’t be a Rangers player for very long, such has been his impressive start at Ibrox. Ensuring that his switch was made permanent was always going to be high on Clement’s agenda.
The weekend couldn’t have started much better for fans on the blue half of Ibrox. Now they will just be hoping that their side backs it up in the Scottish Cup final.
