Early Rangers team news v Celtic: Ryan Jack ‘raring to go’ after injury doubt

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has revealed that Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack is fit and raring to go ahead of the Scottish Cup final clash versus Celtic.

The veteran midfielder has been suffering with injuries for much of the season, but recently returned to the squad although he has been left out of the team in recent weeks since then.

But the Ibrox star was named in the provisional Scotland squad for Euro 2024 and when speaking to Daily Record (22 May) the manager revealed that Jack has been fit “for a couple of weeks”, but is being left out by choice by Philippe Clement.

“What he has to do is come into the camp, train well, hopefully I can give him some minutes on the pitch and he has to show everyone he is fit,” he said.

“I know he has been fit at his club for a couple of weeks now. They have chosen not to play him, that is their choice, but Ryan is fit and raring to go.”

Rangers get timely injury boost ahead of Scottish Cup final v Celtic

Considering all of the injury problems at Ibrox this season, Clement seems to be getting a bit lucky with recoveries ahead of the final game and cup final.

Jack is fit again, John Lundstram is back from suspension, and Abdallah Sima and Dujon Sterling have both been featured off the bench to step up their own recovery.

That’s all positive news for the manager, but the fact that Jack hasn’t featured despite supposedly being fit suggests that the the Belgian has already made his mind up on the future of the Scot.

Jack is out of contract at Ibrox this summer and is currently behind Mohammed Diomande, Lundstram and Nicolas Raskin in the pecking order as a bare minimum.

Renewing his deal seems highly unlikely at this point and if he hasn’t been getting picked when he is fit, then he may well have played his final game for the club already.
