Doctor shares long-term risks for James Tavernier after Rangers v Celtic incident

Rangers defender James Tavernier risked long-term consequences had he been hit more severely by objects thrown at him v Celtic, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert believes that the fans should be permanently banned and charged as such things have no place in football.

It’s understood that the English right-back avoided a serious injury, per the Daily Record, but things could’ve been a lot worse.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

Depending on the object, you can certainly pick up a knock or get hit in the eye by one of these.

This could’ve had long-term consequences but nothing escalated and that’s a relief.

If I had my say on it, all those seen to do it would be permanently banned and charged.

There is zero place for it in football.

James Tavernier informed the referee in Rangers v Celtic

Willie Collum, who was in charge of the game, saw Tavernier speak to him and even hand an object to him during the game.

A spokesperson for the club condemned the action of missiles being thrown and claimed it wasn’t the first time something like that had happened.
