Seven Rangers players named who could seal permanent Ibrox exits this summer
John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, Jon McLaughlin, Kemar Roofe, Connor Goldson and James Tavernier must leave Rangers, according to Four Lads Had a Dream.
Barring Tavernier and Goldson, the other five players have their contracts at the club running out this summer, but Four Lads’ Steven Clifford wants the veteran defensive duo to also be shown the door.
There has been interest from Saudi Arabia for both the English defenders and it remains to be seen if they end up leaving this summer.
Clifford wrote for Rangers Review on 22 May: “Allowing John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, Jon McLaughlin and Kemar Roofe to leave is a very easy place to start. All five are out of contract so it’s a case of shaking their hands and moving them all on. But they should be followed out the door by Connor Goldson and James Tavernier.
“That’s how vital a proper clear out is in the summer. That’s not to mention others in the squad who won’t make it or aren’t robust enough consistently.”

This clear out is crucial as it allows the club to make room for new and high-performing talent and given how difficult it is to be self-sustainable, there need to be sales.
It sends a strong message to the remaining squad about the standards required at Ibrox.
Philippe Clement needs to be seen as someone who the dressing room respects and those who are slacking must instantly be shown the door.
Furthermore, the interest from Saudi Arabia for Goldson and Tavernier presents an opportunity to generate funds for reinvestment.
The club should seize this chance to make strategic decisions that align with their long-term objectives.
It might be hard to cut ties with players who have been there for such a long time, but Gers cannot afford to be sentimental if they are to bridge the gap with Celtic and reclaim the SPFL title next season.
