Rangers v Celtic news as Doctor shares John Souttar injury update
Rangers defender John Souttar is likely to miss the clash against Celtic due to a potential muscular injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that for him to be in contention for the cup final on 25 May, he will need to return to full first-team training.
That does not appear to be the case although it could change if Philippe Clement or the club announce he’s training normally.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“For Souttar, it sounds like it might be muscular because the manager mentioned that they don’t know yet and that sort of grey area is typically reserved for muscular injuries.
“There seems to be nothing from the club that’s indicated his return to first-team training.
“That would be an indicator for him that he’s perhaps not fully fit yet and the chances of him playing in a cup final are low, as it stands.
“That’s not to say that he isn’t making progress, but it remains to be seen where he is in terms of his recovery.“
Rangers need John Souttar for the final v Celtic
Connor Goldson’s already ruled out of the game and Leon Balogun could also miss out, leaving the club short on defensive options.
They were already exposed a great deal in the 3-3 draw against Hearts with Leon King and Ben Davies starting.

Souttar has been a mainstay in the Gers defence and their chances of winning increase with him in the starting eleven.
In other Rangers news, the club are likely to lock horns with Celtic over the signing of a highly-rated left-back in the summer transfer window.
