Borna Barisic faces snub with Rangers exit lined up at Ibrox
Rangers defender Borna Barisic looks likely to be left out by Croatia ahead of the 2024 UEFA European Championship.
As per the Scottish Daily Mail (page 71, 22 May), the left-back’s six-year spell at Ibrox is set to come to an end this summer with a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor lined up.
And as well as his career with the Gers, it looks as if Barisic’s chances of featuring at the Euros are also over after this latest snub.
Ahead of the showpiece tournament in Germany, the 35-times capped defender was only named by Zlatko Dalic on the standby list for Croatia having not featured for his nation since last October.
Borna Barisic suffering after an inconsistent season with Rangers at Ibrox
Barisic looks to be paying the price for his poor Rangers form.
Not only is he on the brink of leaving Scottish football, but it now looks as if he won’t be featuring for his country at this year’s Euros, barring a dramatic late twist.
With a move to Turkey seemingly on the cards, Barisic might potentially have already played his last game for Croatia.
He is unlikely to have as many opportunities to impress while playing for Trabzonspor, and with his 32nd birthday not far around the corner, this could be a sign that Barisic’s career is beginning to wind down.
After such an inconsistent season with the Gers, that will perhaps come as little surprise to most supporters at Ibrox.

With the likes of Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol and Ajax’s Borna Sosa both options at left-back for Croatia, it is not difficult to see why Barisic missed out.
But still, that won’t make things any easier for the outgoing Rangers star ahead of what looks to be a big summer of change.
