Rangers to ‘make their money back’ on Sam Lammers amid Utrecht summer transfer update

Rangers will make “their money back” on Sam Lammers if and when they sell him in the summer transfer window, according to Chris Jack.

The Dutchman struggled following his £3million move to Ibrox last summer but has flourished out on loan with Utrecht in the second half of the season and the Eredivisie side are keen to make his stay permanent.

While question marks remain over whether Utrecht could afford to make Lammers stay permanent, Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack believes the Gers will be able to find a buyer willing to match their fee.

Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel (21 May) he said: “For all the world he looked like a guy Rangers would have to take a hefty loss on, I would be surprised now if Rangers don’t make their money back.

“Whether that is to Utrecht or somebody else in that division.”

Will Rangers and Philippe Clement sell Sam Lammers during the summer transfer window?

As Jack suggested, only a matter of months ago it looked as though the Gers would have to prepare to lose millions of pounds on Lammers when the window opened this summer as he couldn’t have struggled more in Glasgow.

For whatever reason, the Dutchman looked like a fish out of water as he was repeatedly slammed by pundits and supporters alike for his poor displays in a Rangers shirt.

Nobody could have expected him to flourish as he has done in the second half of the season and while some will argue he deserves another chance under Clement, the Light Blues will be keen to cash in as quickly as possible.

A permanent move to Utrecht may well be off the table at that high a price but Lammers’ good form won’t have gone unnoticed by teams higher up the pyramid and the Gers will be able to find somebody willing to foot the bill.
