Rangers to complete Jefte transfer as arrival date at Ibrox shared
Rangers have completed a deal to sign Fluminense left-back Jefte from July 1, despite late interest from APOEL, according to Perfil Da Central.
Writing on their personal X account (20 May), the Brazilian news outlet reports that the Greek club had interest in keeping the defender around after his loan spell this season.
But Jefte has agreed on a deal with Rangers and will move to Ibrox from July.
“Despite Apoel’s interest in keeping the player, Jefté will be a player for Rangers, in Scotland, from July onwards,” they wrote. “Deal confirmed.”
Rangers set to complete Jefte transfer
The season isn’t quite over for Philippe Clement and his team just yet, but the rebuild that the manager has promised is already well underway.
Panama defender Jose Cordoba is expected to join the club to bolster the central defence options of the squad, and he is now looking set to be joined by young left-back Jefte.
With Borna Barisic expected to leave Ibrox and head to Trabzonspor in Turkey when his contract expires after the Scottish Cup final against Celtic, Jefte is an immediate replacement.
Jefte was initially targeted for a January arrival when it looked like Ridvan Yilmaz was going to be the one leaving, but the Turkey international has made himself first-choice in recent months.
The season isn’t over but there is already an image of what the manager wants to do this summer and business has begun quickly, which is a definite positive in what promises to be a huge summer.
In other Rangers news, the club want to sign this two-time league champion attacker.
