Rangers finalising deals for two signings who’ll wrestle title away from Celtic

Rangers are close to finalising deals for two defenders that the club hope will help steal the title back from Celtic, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet reported on Tuesday (21 May) that the Gers intend to get their transfer business done early after finishing second to Celtic this season.

It is claimed that left-back Jefte, who Rangers missed out on signing in the January window, is one of those who is on the verge of signing.

The other deal will see centre-back Jose Cordoba arrive from Levski Sofia for a reported upfront fee of £1.5million rising to £3.5m with various add-ons included.

Rangers know what they are doing with transfer approach

With Nils Koppen now overlooking transfer activity, it is clear what approach the Gers are taking in terms of players they want to recruit.

The aim is to be unpolished gems who are young and have potential to only get better, meaning their transfer fees will only increase.

No supporter is truly interested in the financials, of course – they just want to see a player perform well over a number of years before leaving.

However, gone are the days when the club would spend a questionable amount on a player who would ultimately leave with zero value to his name.

While not a great deal is known about Jefte and Cordoba beyond what has been written in the press, they certainly tick a lot of boxes.

Fair play to the club because this is smart business. Those two alone, though, will unlikely be enough to ensure the Gers come out on top in 2024-25.
