Rangers transfer news as FC Utrecht twist emerges on Sam Lammers
Rangers attacker Sam Lammers remains above the salary cap for FC Utrecht, but they still want to sign him, according to Jordy Zuidam.
The Dutch club’s technical director revealed that the club will continue a dialogue with Gers in order to find a financial compromise.
Lammers has enjoyed his loan spell in the Eredivisie, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 18 games and could follow John Lundstram and Borna Barisic out of the door at Ibrox.
Zuidam said, as quoted by UtrechtFans: “We are fully committed to that opportunity. It was already exciting last winter, when we did everything we could. We are very happy that we succeeded, and it will be just as exciting again whether we can keep him.
“He is a very important link within our team. So you want to go far for that. The only question is: is it far enough how far we can go? That remains to be seen.
“But it is of course clear that this boy is above our salary cap, and that we have now found a model with Rangers that is acceptable to us. We now have to look to hopefully find a way to keep him.”
Rangers may look to negotiate Sam Lammers’ transfer fee
Gers might be willing to sell Lammers for a lower fee due to his struggles at the club.
His performance in the Eredivisie demonstrates his potential, but he has not met expectations at Ibrox.
By selling Lammers for a lower fee, Rangers could free up funds to strengthen their first-team squad.
This would allow them to invest in new players who could make a more significant impact on the team’s performance.
However, it is unlikely that Lammers will stay at the Scottish club beyond the summer, as he is already attracting interest from other clubs.

Philippe Clement wants to weed out the players who are not deemed good enough for the first team and it would be like going backwards trying to re-integrate Lammers into the side.
In other Rangers, an award-winning British manager may now be open to taking over the Ibrox managerial hot seat from Philippe Clement.
