Rangers need to pay £10m+ to complete permanent Abdallah Sima transfer this summer
Rangers probably don’t have the financial muscle to sign Abdallah Sima on a permanent deal as it would likely cost upwards of £10million, Derek Ferguson has said.
The Senegal forward, 22, has been a hit at Ibrox during a season-long loan from Premier League outfit Brighton, scoring 16 goals across all competitions this season.
It was reported by talkSPORT (22 April) that Rangers want to strike a permanent deal with Sima during the summer transfer window.
But former Rangers man Ferguson thinks that the money it would take to get a full transfer over the line would be beyond the club’s reach.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “Of course, you would love him to be there but I don’t think Rangers have got the finances, you’re talking probably £10million upwards.
“Rangers, they’ve got to look at a different market. He’s been unfortunate because he never got injured with Rangers, he was away on international duty.
“But the one thing about Sima, when he took to the field he gave you everything, he loved playing in the big games.
“So, have we got a chance of signing him? Personally, I don’t think so. Would I like him to be there? I’d absolutely love him to be there because he’s proved it.
“He’s scored goals in important games, he doesn’t hide, he doesn’t shut away. He maybe came back a little too quick (from injury). Sometimes money talks.”
Will Rangers sign Abdallah Sima on a permanent transfer?
You do wonder if things might have turned out a little differently for Rangers his season if Sima have not been injured while away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
The winger missed a significant amount of time and his source of goals and creativity was sorely missed at times during the battle for the Scottish Premiership with Celtic.

As for whether he’ll be at Ibrox again next season, you get the sense that the player himself would like another crack at it with Rangers.
The difficulty is that Brighton are likely to want a pretty significant fee to allow him to depart the Amex Stadium on a full transfer. With the Gers needing a lot of reinforcement again this summer, it feels a tough one to make happen.
