Rangers backroom changes on the cards as Alex Rae update emerges

Backroom changes are on the cards at Rangers this summer with Alex Rae among those that could leave, according to the Daily Record.

The media outlet reported on 20 May that Rae’s, a first-team coach at Ibrox, contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Along with changes in the playing squad, there are expected to be changes behind the scenes as well.

The report reads: “There could also be changes in Clement’s backroom team with Alex Rae’s contract up at the end of the season.”

Alex Rae could be on his way out of Rangers this summer

A backroom clearout at Ibrox could lead Philippe Clement to not renew Alex Rae’s contract, as the manager may prefer a change in the coaching staff to better align with his vision and strategies.

The Belgian has already made some changes to the coaching staff, retaining Rae and others in a transitional role.

However, with the opportunity to make further adjustments, Clement might opt for a fresh start with a coaching team that fully supports his approach.

Rae’s potential move to Sunderland, where he was tipped for the managerial position, could also influence Clement’s decision.

It makes sense for the board to allow Clement to bring in the players he wants as it’s imperative for the team to move forward.

Whether or not a major overhaul takes place, remains to be seen, but as things stand, nothing concrete has taken place.

In other Rangers news, the club are likely to lock horns with Celtic over the signing of a highly-rated left-back in the summer transfer window.
