Keith Jackson shares what Rangers need to beat Celtic at Hampden in Scottish Cup final

Keith Jackson has said that Rangers need Celtic to still be “drunk” from their title celebrations to win the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

Philippe Clement’s side head to Hampden for the final game of their season on Saturday (25 May) as they look to pick up their second piece of silverware and their first win over the Hoops under the Belgian.

While there is a genuine feeling around supporters that the Light Blues haven’t been too far away from Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, Jackson believes it will be impossible for the Gers to come away as winners.

Writing for the Daily Record (20 May) he said: “That Celtic are still drunk after taking their title celebrations too far.

“And that’s not going to happen.”

Will Rangers beat Celtic at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup final?

While Rangers have been close to the Hoops in the last two Old Firm derbies, they haven’t been able to show the quality at either end of the field to claim all three points and that could be costly in a cup final.

Cyriel Dessers has improved in recent weeks and months, but he still doesn’t have the cutting edge in the penalty area to take the half chance that comes his way in games of this magnitude and with Danilo still sidelined, he will have to start.

On top of that, there are a lot of players in the Light Blues’ changing room who already know that they will be playing their final game for the Gers and that could well impact their performance as it did at Parkhead a matter of weeks ago.

Hopefully, Clement will finally be able to get that first win over his local rivals and pick up a domestic double to end his first season at Ibrox. But even the most confident of supporters will be doubting Rangers’ chances.
